Sustainability a Focus at Driftless Region Beef Conference
Sam Odom a Summit Livestock Facilities Beef Specialist represented our company at the 2015 Driftless Regional Beef Conference in Dubuque Iowa January 22-23 2015.
More than 100 producers attended to hear keynote speaker Jude Capper present new research findings relative to the environmental footprint of producing beef; a topic of great interest to all of us here at Summit Livestock Facilities.
Capper is a sustainability consultant and an adjunct professor of animal sciences at Washington State University. Better known for her research on the environmental impact of beef production in the United States she defines sustainability to include socially responsible environmentally sound and economically viable product that prioritizes planet people animals and progress.
All of this is “music to our ears” here at Summit as we design and build zero-discharge cattle finishing facilities that optimize profit potential for producers as they minimize the impact of those facilities on water quality and other aspects of our environment.
Our sincere thanks to the cooperative extensions in Illinois Iowa Minnesota and Wisconsin for inviting Summit Livestock Facilities to be present at this important meeting.
