Orion Samuelson receives Gubernatorial Proclamation at 2014 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days
We could not possibly be more delighted with the hospitality we received and the good friends we have made at the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association beef tent this past week during the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days.
First of all a big "hats off" to both Nancy and Dean Thomas for the outstanding job they did in organizing the beef tent again this year. This year Nancy is retiring from her position and the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association will greatly miss her valuable contribution.
Wednesday August 13th was an especially exciting day at the beef tent. The nationally renowned icon of agri-broadcasting Orion Samuelson joined us for what he thought would be one of his typical visits to a farm show featuring one his usual informative and entertaining presentations.
But what Orion did not know was that today would be special day for him. Much to Orion’s surprise immediately following his presentation Wisconsin State Secretary of Agriculture Ben Brancel joined him on the stage for what was to be a very warm and moving tribute to one of our nations leading agri-broadcasters.
Secretary Brancel began his presentation with a brief history of Orion’s early childhood growing up on a farm in Wisconsin and his budding career in agi-broadcasting.
The presentation concluded with a reading of a Gubernatorial Proclamation signed by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker proclaiming August 13 2014 as the official Orion Samuelson day throughout the state of Wisconsin.
In addition to the excitement of Orion’s recognition we were treated to some wholesome humor from a man who has inspired and spoken out in support of American farmers for more than 62 years.
It was indeed a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet Orion and for those of us at Summit Livestock Facilities to be part of the celebration.
